Charles grew up studying theater and working at a cotton gin. After high school, he auditioned for and studied at Syracuse University's Theater Department under renowned Broadway actor Arthur Storch. In NYC/LA, he studied acting technique with Sanford Meisner, Utah Hagen, Herbert Berghof, Vincent Chase, and Margie Haber.
He also studied at Texas A&M University, S.M.U. (B.A. English Literature), University College at Oxford University, England (through S.M.U.), and N.Y.U. (Film Production).
Charles currently resides between Malibu and Dallas with his wife, author and radio personality Dr Natasha Valdez and their son. They love to spend time at their Texas ranch fishing, riding dirt bikes, and shooting skeet,
